Baked Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

Soft and fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donuts…
I wish every day would National Donut Day!
These donuts are simple and quick to make, made with brown butter, fluffy and coated in cinnamon sugar, What’s not to love here?..

They’re soft and thick and coated entirely with brown sugar and a touch of cinnamon, another option would coating them with powder sugar or granulated sugar, whatever its your choice for the topping they’re still super delicious!
Also these donuts are baked not fried, which mean there is less work involved and they’re ready in no time!

BAKER’S TIPS

Don’t over bake you donuts! over baked donuts are going to come out of the oven tough and dense.

For this recipe, a donut pan is required. If you don’t own one, i recommend this one here, Wilton Doughnut Baking Tin, Non Stick, Large, 6 Hole.

These donuts are best eaten the day they are made and when they’re still warm.

Directions

  1. To make the donuts: Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  2. Whisk the egg, brown sugar, milk, and yogurt together until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter and vanilla, whisking until fully combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.
  4. Spoon the batter into the donut pan, cut a corner off the bottom of the piping bag and pipe the batter into each donut cup, filling 3 ∕ 4 of the way full.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
  6. Allow donuts to cool down.
  7. To top the donuts: Combine the sugar of your choice and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Dip the donuts in the melted butter, then coat the donuts with cinnamon sugar mixture. Donuts are best served immediately.
